🪟Why all-in pricing?
Upcoming changes to ticket pricing and fees
Starting November 1, 2026, between 08:00 AM and 09:00 AM UTC, we're introducing all-in pricing and replacing order-level processing fees with per-item booking fees.
Customers will see the full price of tickets and other items upfront, including applicable fees and taxes, with a detailed breakdown available during checkout.
Tixtree's pricing isn't changing.
Your existing plan, including any lifetime pricing you've secured, will remain unchanged.
Action required: If you currently pass processing fees to customers and want to continue recovering those costs, you'll need to configure your new booking fees before November 1.
These changes will improve price transparency, simplify the purchasing experience, and help organizers comply with consumer protection regulations.
What's changing on November 1, 2026?
We're introducing three main changes:
1. All-in pricing
Customers will see the full price of tickets and other items upfront, including applicable mandatory fees and taxes.
Instead of displaying a ticket price and adding fees during checkout, Tixtree will display the total price from the beginning.
Customers will still be able to view a breakdown of the individual charges.
2. Order-level processing fees will be discontinued
Currently, organizers can configure fixed and percentage-based processing fees that are added to the total order during checkout.
Starting November 1, this feature will no longer be available.
3. New per-item booking fees
Organizers will be able to configure booking fees to help cover payment processing, venue, and other event-related costs.
These fees will be calculated individually for each ticket or item and included in the advertised price.
You can configure a fixed fee, a percentage fee, or a combination of both.
Do I need to take any action?
Yes, if you currently pass processing fees to customers and want to continue recovering those costs.
You can configure your new booking fees in advance:
- Go to Fees, under your organization's settings.
- Find the new Booking fee section.
- Select Customers.
- Enter your preferred percentage fee, fixed fee, or both.
- Click Save.
Your new booking fee settings will be saved immediately but won't take effect until November 1, 2026.
Until October 31, your existing processing fee settings will continue to work as usual.
What happens if I don't configure booking fees?
Starting November 1, order-level processing fees will be converted to the new per-item booking fee.
We recommend reviewing your booking fees carefully, particularly if you currently charge a fixed processing fee per order. Since fixed booking fees will apply to each item, customers purchasing multiple items may pay more than they do today.
How will all-in pricing work?
Under the new pricing model, the price displayed to customers will already include all applicable mandatory charges.
For example, suppose you're selling a $10 ticket for an event in New York, with the following costs:
| Component | Amount |
| Ticket price | $10.00 |
| Sales tax (8.875%) | $0.89 |
| Platform fee (Tixtree) | $0.55 |
| Booking fee (2.9% + $0.30 per order) | $0.65 |
| Total at checkout | $12.09 |
Currently, customers might see a ticket advertised for $10.00, with additional fees and taxes added during checkout.
Starting November 1, assuming the organizer configures an equivalent booking fee, customers will see:
General Admission — $12.09
Includes fees and taxes
The advertised price will already include the applicable charges, so customers won't encounter unexpected mandatory fees during checkout.
All-in pricing doesn't mean hiding fees. Customers will still be able to view an itemized breakdown showing:
- Ticket price: The original price set by the organizer.
- Booking fee: Any additional fee configured by the organizer.
- Platform fee: Tixtree's service fee, when passed on to customers.
- Taxes: Any applicable taxes included in the total.
The advertised price after November 1 will depend on your booking fee settings. It won't necessarily remain $12.09.
You can continue setting your base ticket prices as usual. Tixtree will automatically calculate and include applicable fees and configured taxes in the prices displayed to customers.
What's the difference between processing fees and booking fees?
The main difference is how fees are calculated and applied.
Currently, processing fees are calculated on the entire order, with the fixed component charged only once per transaction.
Starting November 1, booking fees will be calculated individually for each ticket or item, making it possible to display consistent, all-inclusive prices upfront.
Let's reuse our previous example:
- Ticket price: $10.00
- Sales tax: 8.875%
- Tixtree platform fee: $0.55 per ticket
- Payment processing costs: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
Assuming the organizer configures booking fees to recover equivalent processing costs, here's how the two models compare:
| Current Processing Fee | New Booking Fee | |
| Fee calculation | Per order | Per item |
| 1 ticket | $12.09 | $12.09 |
| 5 tickets | $58.01 | $60.45 |
| Advertised ticket price | $10.00 + fees + taxes | $12.09 (all-inclusive) |
These examples assume identical tickets, the same tax rate and fees, and no additional charges. Amounts are rounded to the nearest cent.
Why is there a difference?
Under the current model, the $0.30 fixed processing fee is charged only once per order, regardless of how many tickets are purchased.
Under the new model, the equivalent fixed booking fee is applied to each ticket individually.
This means customers purchasing multiple tickets may pay higher total fees if you configure equivalent fixed booking fees.
However, they'll always see a consistent, all-inclusive price per ticket, regardless of how many tickets they purchase.
You can adjust your booking fee settings to account for this difference.
Can I still pass payment processing costs to customers?
Yes. You can configure booking fees to help recover your payment processing costs, subject to applicable laws and payment surcharge restrictions.
Payment processors typically charge a combination of fixed and percentage-based fees. Since these costs may vary depending on the payment method, your booking fees don't necessarily have to match the exact processing costs.
You can choose to absorb these costs yourself or configure booking fees to help cover them.
What happens to Tixtree's platform fee?
Tixtree's pricing isn't changing.
We're not increasing our fees, and your existing plan, including any lifetime pricing you've secured, will remain unchanged.
You can continue choosing whether your organization or your customers cover Tixtree's platform fee.
When passed on to customers, the platform fee will be included in advertised prices and itemized at checkout.
Platform fees and booking fees will remain separate, making it clear which charges are set by Tixtree and which are configured by the event organizer.
Will this affect my existing events?
Yes. The changes will apply to purchases made from November 1, 2026, including purchases for events created before that date.
If you configure booking fees in advance, they'll automatically become active on November 1.
We recommend reviewing your settings before the transition to avoid unexpected changes to your event pricing.
What regulations are driving these changes?
Governments and consumer protection authorities around the world are increasingly taking action against "drip pricing", a practice where mandatory fees are added to an advertised price later in the purchasing process.
Although regulations vary by country, the underlying principle is consistent: customers should be able to understand the full cost of their purchase upfront, without encountering unexpected mandatory charges during checkout.
Several countries have introduced regulations or published official guidance addressing price transparency:
- United States: FTC Rule on Unfair or Deceptive Fees
- United Kingdom: CMA Price Transparency Guidance
- Canada: Competition Bureau: Drip Pricing
- Australia: ACCC: Price Displays
- European Union: EU Pricing and Payment Rules
- Singapore: Guidelines on Price Transparency
- Switzerland: Swiss Price Indication Requirements
- New Zealand: Consumer Protection: Misleading Prices or Advertising
By adopting all-in pricing worldwide, Tixtree is providing a consistent, transparent purchasing experience while helping organizers comply with applicable price transparency requirements.
Importantly, these regulations generally address how prices are displayed, not how booking fees must be calculated. Our move from order-level processing fees to per-item booking fees is an implementation decision designed to make advertised prices consistent and predictable.
Please note: Pricing laws vary by country. While Tixtree helps you display transparent, all-inclusive prices, you're still responsible for ensuring your fees and pricing practices comply with local regulations.
